Welcoming Dr. Atilio Reyes Romero to the ACRADIS Project at Palacký University!
We are delighted to announce that Dr. Atilio Reyes Romero has successfully secured an MSCA CZ Fellowship and joined the Institute of Molecular and Translational Medicine (IMTM), Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Palacký University. As part of the ACRADIS (Accelerated Chemistry in RNA Drug Discovery) project, he will contribute to groundbreaking research in RNA-targeted drug discovery, working within the Innovative Chemistry Group at CATRIN under the supervision of Prof. Alexander Dömling.
Pioneering RNA-Targeted Drug Discovery
Dr. Reyes Romero brings extensive expertise in fragment-based drug discovery and computational chemistry, gained during his Ph.D. at the University of Groningen under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie ITN program. His research journey has taken him through leading institutions and biotech companies, including:
- Helmholtz Zentrum Munich (Germany)
- Giotto Biotech (Italy)
- Jagiellonian University (Poland)
Now, at Palacký University Olomouc, his work will focus on SM-RNA interactions, a rapidly emerging field in medicinal chemistry that holds great promise for developing innovative therapies.
Bridging Academia and Industry
ACRADIS is not just about cutting-edge science—it also fosters strong industrial collaborations. Through partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, this project will provide valuable internship opportunities, allowing researchers to gain insights into industrial approaches for discovering RNA-oriented small molecules (SMs).
A New Chapter in RNA Therapeutics
The ACRADIS project, in collaboration with the European Research Council (ERC) AMADEUS platform, is driving forward the next wave of RNA-targeted drug development. With Dr. Reyes Romero on board, we are excited to push the boundaries of innovation in this field and contribute to the future of precision medicine.
Stay tuned for more updates as we advance the science of RNA therapeutics! 🚀
