The Innovative Chemistry Group at CATRIN / IMTM, Palacký University Olomouc, led by Professor Alexander Dömling, is expanding and inviting applications for two exciting positions in a fast-growing international research environment focused on chemistry at the interface of synthesis, automation, miniaturization, and data-driven discovery.

Postdoctoral Researchers in Automated and Data-Driven Discovery

The Innovative Chemistry Group is recruiting multiple Postdoctoral Researchers to advance research at the interface of synthetic chemistry, automation, and data-driven discovery.

The group focuses on the miniaturization and acceleration of chemistry, combining multicomponent reaction (MCR) chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and high-throughput experimentation (HTE) using advanced automation platforms. This position is ideal for ambitious researchers who want to help shape the future of modern chemical discovery in an interdisciplinary setting aligned with the group’s automation and miniaturization mission.

Research focus

  • automated and miniaturized chemical synthesis
  • high-throughput experimentation (HTE)
  • multicomponent reactions (MCRs) in medicinal chemistry
  • acoustic droplet ejection (ADE) platforms such as ECHO
  • integration of chemistry with machine learning, AI, and data science

Your profile

  • PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry or a related field
  • strong background in synthetic and analytical chemistry
  • interest in medicinal chemistry
  • motivation to work with parallel synthesis and automation technologies
  • interest in exploring novel experimental approaches, including ECHO ADE, OT-2, and Tecan EVO
  • basic understanding of data science and willingness to collaborate with ML/AI experts

Analytical Chemistry Technician – HPLC-MS / UPLC-MS / SFC-MS

CATRIN is also seeking a qualified and motivated candidate for the position of Analytical Chemistry Technician.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation of analytical instrumentation and the provision of analytical support for research activities within the institute. This role is well suited to someone who wants to work with advanced analytical platforms in an international and research-oriented environment.

Main responsibilities

  • operation of analytical techniques, including HPLC-MS, UPLC-MS, and SFC-MS
  • operation of additional instrumentation, including HRMS, NMR, and Prep-HPLC
  • measurement, processing, and evaluation of analytical data
  • providing analytical support to research staff
  • ensuring effective utilisation and maintenance of analytical equipment
  • implementation of new analytical methods in line with project requirements

Requirements

  • practical experience with analytical instrumentation, particularly HPLC-MS, UPLC-MS, and SFC-MS
  • experience with HRMS, NMR, or Prep-HPLC is an advantage
  • background in chemistry, preferably organic chemistry
  • good command of English, spoken and written, sufficient for professional communication
  • ability to learn new analytical techniques and methods
  • reliability, accuracy, and ability to work independently
